CR2PI JOINS $18 MILLION White House Collaborative to Advance Equity Through Research

CR2PI at The New York Women’s Foundation Joins $18 Million “Collaborative to Advance Equity through Research” Aimed at Improving the Lives of Women and Girls of Color
New York, NY – The Center for Research and Policy in the Public Interest (CR2PI), at The New York Women’s Foundation (NYWF) will work with the “Collaborative to Advance Equity through Research” to advance a research and policy agenda focused on empowering and increasing opportunity for women and girls of color.

As a part of the collaborative, CR2PI will continue to produce and disseminate timely reports and policy briefs focused on the economic security and well-being of young girls and women of color, their families and communities using an intersectional approach and analysis. The reports will be widely available and used to help inform the work of community-based organizations, philanthropic institutions, and colleges and universities across the country.

This partnership comes at an opportune time when The New York Women’s Foundation is deepening its commitment to girls, young women, and gender-fluid youth of color through its IGNITE! initiative, which supports girls and young women of color to achieve their full personal and leadership potential to accelerate a generational shift toward gender and racial equity in NYC.

“We are proud to work with this coalition to generate more knowledge and research about girls and women of color. The more we know, the more we can begin to generate policy solutions and create programs that are connected to their lives and experiences, ” said Dr. C. Nicole Mason, Executive Director of the Center for Research and Policy in the Public Interest.

“The New York Women’s Foundation and our grantee partners rely on comprehensive information that captures community-informed solutions to address community challenges. We are proud to support Dr. C. Nicole Mason and CR2PI in their efforts to bring the needs of girls and young women of color to the forefront of research and policy. We know that without their voices, we are unable to effectively address the significant challenges that they face in their daily lives.” Ana L. Oliveira, President & CEO, The New York Women’s Foundation

The Initiative was launched on November 13, 2015 during a day-long forum at the White House on Advancing Equity for Women and Girls of Color. At the meeting, the White House Council on Women and Girls released a progress report, “Advancing Equity for Women and Girls of Color.” The report outlines five major research focus areas including economic prosperity, violence, and STEM education.

The Center for Research and Policy in the Public Interest (CR2PI) works at the intersections of race, gender, class and other markers of difference on a range of social issues and problems. We conduct ground breaking original research and policy analysis focused on women of color, their families and communities. Research generated at CR2PI is used to build knowledge, influence the public debate, and create informed public policies at the local, state, and national levels. The ultimate goal of our research and policy analysis is to increase access and relieve disparities for economically vulnerable families, and to help build more connected communities throughout the United States. –  CR2PI.org
